Spreading holiday cheer

During the holiday season many Kiewit teams take time to focus on giving back to their community. Kiewit’s core value of stewardship can be seen in how theycare for one another each day and especially during this season of giving.

Houston-based Kiewit employees collected over 500 toys plus $5,000 in cash and gift cards for the Candlelighters Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays Program. Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance was founded by families of children with cancer for families of children with cancer; to be a light in the darkness. Their Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays Program provides hope, support and practical help to families during the holiday season.

In partnership with Kansas City charities Harvesters-The Community Food Network, Operation Breakthrough and Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City, Kiewit volunteers adopted 78 families, donated 485 hours of service, provided 53,000 meals to feed the hungry, and gave 97 units of blood to save 291 lives.

Kiewit employees in New Jersey collected 250 coats to donate to Jersey Cares, a nonprofit committed to “creating and managing efficient, impactful projects that address critical community-identified needs.
