Like a Good Neighbor

August 23, 2019 |

Last weekend, the Central 70 project (C70) in Denver, Colorado, opened the first two bridges over the new, lowered section of I-70. Through the end of the year, the team will push to meet its first major contractual milestone, completing the east segment of the project.

As busy as C70 is with construction, the team is still making time to take care of its neighbors.

Earlier this year, C70 started a partnership with local non-profit We Don’t Waste to bring fresh, high-quality food to the Globeville, Elyria-Swansea (GES) neighborhoods, historically underserved and underprivileged communities near the project.

We Don’t Waste first gathers excess food from venues, caterers and restaurants and then distributes it through mobile farmers markets. Thanks to C70’s sponsorship, the mobile markets visit the GES neighborhoods twice a week.

More than 5,583 people have been served so far this year. Over the course of the project, C70 will provide $100,000 in fresh food to its neighbors, including the sponsorship of We Don’t Waste’s 2019 operating costs.
